SOURCE: Feed the Future: the U.S. Government's global hunger and food security initiative (SERVIR, a joint effort of NASA and USAID)
| 2023
The article discusses how the collaboration between USAID and NASA, specifically through the SERVIR program, is helping small-scale farmers in Kenya and five other African countries by using satellite data to address climate-related challenges. combining satellite data with on-the-ground information, offers a clearer picture of where food security support is most needed. The success of this project has led to its expansion to six countries, including Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia, demonstrating the increasing demand for improved crop monitoring and the potential for satellite data to address food security challenges in Africa.
