The food loss and waste problem is systemic, requiring collaborative efforts. Businesses are increasingly recognizing the need to work together to tackle this issue and are partnering with peers to achieve waste reduction goals. The Pacific Coast Food Waste Commitment (PCFWC) is an example of such collaboration, involving major food businesses, government entities, and NGOs in California, Oregon, and Washington. This partnership tracks, reports, and analyzes food waste data, allowing businesses to identify areas for improvement and share anonymized data publicly to set industry benchmarks.
